چکیده

The contribution defines a generic traffic model – n Interrupted Renew Process (nIRP), it provides both self-similar traffic and non-self-similar traffic modeling for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) applications. The model can be used to accurately characterize measured voice, video and data traffic. It is a backward compatible extension of 4IPP model. It is forward extendable as well. The contribution offers a system level method suitable for simulation of MAC/PHY proposals from traffic and performance perspectives. Purpose For 802.16.3 to consider the input of the nIRP model for evaluating different MAC/PHY combinations. This contribution is made for Session #11 in Ottawa. Modeling and analysis of the type I power saving class in IEEE 802.16 with general traffic

IEEE 802.16 defines three types of power saving classes for supporting the sleep mode operations on mobile stations using different types of traffic. While related work has developed analytical models to evaluate the performance of the power saving operations in IEEE 802.16 networks, most of these endeavors are limited to the Poisson traffic model and hence their capability is limited in captur...

DIMACS Technical Report 2006 - 06 December 2006 Generalized Traffic Equations

This paper considers the problem of computing certain performance parameters of stochastic networks that have Markovian routing but are not otherwise Jackson networks. A scheme using this model for approximating address-based routing is described. The method relies on generalizing the traffic equation to special subsets of the flows in the network.

On Stop-and-Go Waves in Dense Traffic

From a Vlasov-type kinetic equation with nonlocal braking and acceleration forces, taken as a traffic model for higher densities, we derive macroscopic equations generalizing the second order model of conservation laws suggested by Aw and Rascle [1] and Zhang [2]. The nonlocality remains present in these equations, but more conventional, local equations are derived by using suitable Taylor expa...

Traffic Scene Analysis using Hierarchical Sparse Topical Coding

Analyzing motion patterns in traffic videos can be exploited directly to generate high-level descriptions of the video contents. Such descriptions may further be employed in different traffic applications such as traffic phase detection and abnormal event detection. One of the most recent and successful unsupervised methods for complex traffic scene analysis is based on topic models. In this pa...

The Development of Maximum Likelihood Estimation Approaches for Adaptive Estimation of Free Speed and Critical Density in Vehicle Freeways

The performance of many traffic control strategies depends on how much the traffic flow models have been accurately calibrated. One of the most applicable traffic flow model in traffic control and management is LWR or METANET model. Practically, key parameters in LWR model, including free flow speed and critical density, are parameterized using flow and speed measurements gathered by inductive ...
